There are two types of Intervention Orders in Victoria:

• Family Violence Intervention Orders; and
• Personal Safety Intervention Orders.

These orders are usually utilised by the police or by parties privately in order to provide barriers to potential future breaches of the laws relating to violence and personal safety by a person against another. The parties do often know each other however, this is not entirely necessary.
